First and most importantly (for me), the room was very clean and quiet. Other pros: Friendly, helpful staff and fantastic location. The cons: The rooms are UNBELIEVABLY small. I am from NYC and have travelled to many large cities on a budget--so I know all about small spaces. This place was over the top. We literally could barely maneuver ourselves around. We didn't even have the smallest room in the hotel--we stayed in a ”superior room.” And yes, we got a good price, but I don't feel that we got a ”great value”--especially since this is Berlin and not London, Tokyo, etc. Whenever I travel to Europe, I check with hotels in advance to make sure that their large beds are not actually just 2 small beds pushed together. I forgot to do that for this trip, and sure enough that's what we got. Luckily, the staff was able to find us another room that had a normal bed with no fuss. They were really lovely about it. Be sure to make your needs known in advance if you choose to stay here. Another thing that made the room weirdly uncomfortable was the lighting. Suffice it to say that unless the blinds were open, you can't see much of anything, and even getting the lights on and off required this bizarre system that was just really annoying.

Everything was perfect until the morning of departure, when the service staff knocked on the room door at 8.30 in the morning to tell me to check out because they had to clean, although on Booking, check-out was provided until 12 o'clock.It somewhat erased all the charm until then.

We stayed at Classik Hotel Alexanderplatz for 5 nights and had a great time! Great location, very near to Alexanderplatz, Hackescher Markt, and Museum Island. We stayed on the 4th floor overlooking the inner courtyard. Really nice room, with a gigantic bed and TV. Bathroom was not big but very lovely with good quality fixtures. Staff all very lovely and accommodating. Only points to note were the ongoing work on the facade of the hotel, which obviously can’t be helped and didn’t affect us because of our room location. The hotel room doors and internal doors needed a ‘slam’ to close them properly, which we got used to but nearly left the hotel room door open once or twice. Also a bit of a smell in the corridor - but again, didn’t affect us too much. Overall would recommend, and would stay again!

The location is not bad, walk about 10 from the pressure mountain big square or take a tram. Breakfast is not bad. The room is quiet. The front desk is warm. The fly in the ointment, the hotel offers a small selection of dinner.

I stayed only two nights at a&o Berlin Mitte with Contiki, the stay was comfortable. The four-share rooms were very small and a bit tricky to fit our four suitcases. We also had a run-in with staff at the front desk. For a four-share room, we only got two keys. When a member of our group asked for a spare key, she was denied then given a temporary card and was rudely told to bring it right back - but how could she get back into the room to bring it back??? Others in our tour had the same experience. Besides that, the breakfast was great.

Location is great. A short walk to the Alexanderplatz railway station. If coming from the Brandenburg airport there are several trains from the airport to Alexanderplatz. Take the Regional 8 train is the quickest. I arrived early on my flight from Beijing to the hotel. At about 8 am and the desk clerk told me too early. Come back at noon. I left my luggage and ventured around to checkpoint Charlie. It was cold on Berlin. The room was okay. Not fantastic. No real amenities. A bottle of water was provided. Tv on the wall. No real English channels. Safe. Shower with liquid soap. It leaked whenever I took a shower. All over the floor. Bed was comfy. No slippers or robe or even toothbrush. There is a supermarket close by in a shopping mall. And plenty of food available. Breakfast was good. Make sure to get it included. Front desk was helpful in printing things and giving directions. Will stay here again.
